Hi! My name is Victoria. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).
I graduated from Simon Fraser University with a B.Sc. and completed my Masters in Narrative Therapy and Community Work at University of Melbourne. Going back to school for my graduate studies was a calling and a dream come true. Yes, I went all the way to Australia to do it. Counselling is a career that gives me the opportunity to assist people to figure out things and make meaning of their experiences.
For the past two years I have been practicing in areas that include anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and teen-parent conflict. In addition to narrative therapy, I received specialized training in mindfulness-based somatic therapy and recently started learning neurofeedback. A key component in a therapeutic relationship in my opinion is trust and connection – “I can feel what you are feeling.” At times in therapy sessions, my clients’ stories remind me of times when I was also going through personal setbacks and I can relate to their struggles with their problems. I feel very honored to be in a space to walk alongside clients on this journey to grow and redefine their relationship with the problem. My decision to become a mental health professional stems from enjoying talking to people and hearing their stories. At a previous position I held, the therapists I worked alongside encouraged me to give this field a shot, so I did.
Outside of counselling in my spare time I like to watch free interior design videos on youtube, propagate plants at home then give to friends, spend time with my 2 dogs and dine out since I don’t like cooking. I look forward to meeting you!
